Magic Eraser Ruined Chiffonier Doors
Wife got a little over zealous the other twenty-four hour period doing a deep clean throughout the business firm and used Magic Eraser to wipe down some of the high gloss kitchen cabinet doors - merely renovated the kitchen less than a year ago. Of course this took the sheen right off (simply as it states on the Magic Eraser parcel!). Anyhow we take about six doors that will demand to be replaced just earlier nosotros do then wondering if in that location is anything we can endeavor to get the shine back?

Magic eraser basically put microscopic scratches in the surface which makes it appear dull. I'd effort polishing chemical compound to buff out the scratches. This worked for me on a finished wood flooring that was dulled practice to a like problem, but does requires a bit of elbow grease and patience. It can be a footling tricky matching the existing sheen, because polishing too much can actually make information technology shinier than original. If this doesn't work, then refinishing may be in guild.

+ one to refinishing. I dubiety the doors need to be replaced.
They are a maple veneer that is stained grey (Wellborn Cabinets). If I had them refinished would I need to get the same pigment the mill used or would the company doing the refinishing be able to friction match the color?

Any decent painter/refinisher should be able to get the colour matched. Was the color really affected, though, or but the clear coat? If the stain is still intact, and so it is really just the articulate terminate that needs to exist redone.

I had somewhat of a similar situation but not in my kitchen. I have relative inexpensive maple cabinets in my utility room. I revitalized them with Orangish Glo Hardwood Flooring 4 in 1 production from Church & Dwight. If yous are going to replace them, I would exam information technology in a non-critical (door interior) to meet if it works for you.

I don't remember the color was affected. Almost probable only the clear coat. In fact if you can really merely run into it when the light is just correct.

Finish in at your local auto supply store and choice a a bottle of 'polishing' chemical compound. Not wax or restorer or any other descriptive.
Buff away with a soft cloth and compound. Wipe any residue off with some other soft textile.
If y'all accept them to a cabinet shop, that is what they will do first. If that doesn't work, then they would scuff the finish and spray a new clear coat.

To some, the glass is half total. To others, the glass is half empty. To an engineer, information technology's twice the size it needs to be.
